The IS420UCSCH1B Quad Core Controller from GE is built for high-speed, high-reliability industrial control. It runs on QNX® Neutrino, a real-time multitasking OS, and uses hypervisor technology to manage demanding turbine and BoP applications.
This controller supports Predix™ cloud-based and local web applications via secure Embedded Field Agent (EFA) technology. It communicates over IONet, a dedicated Ethernet protocol exclusive to Mark VIe systems. The IEEE 1588 synchronization ensures precise timing across all I/O modules, maintaining ±100 microseconds accuracy.
Unlike traditional controllers, the IS420UCSCH1B does not host I/O on a backplane. Instead, it connects directly to I/O networks, ensuring full data access even during maintenance. This architecture eliminates single points of failure and supports Simplex, Dual, and TMR redundancy.
