Description
Overview
The IC200PWB001 is a passive expansion carrier designed within the GE Fanuc Emerson VersaMax architecture to support additional system power supplies in large I/O configurations. It does not perform any electrical conversion; instead, it extends the existing backplane power distribution path to downstream modules.
This carrier is used when the primary CPU or NIU power supply cannot meet the current demand of expanded I/O racks, enabling segmented power distribution across long or high-density VersaMax stations.
System Function
The module serves as a mechanical and electrical extension point for supplementary power integration.
-
Provides mounting location for VersaMax power supplies
-
Extends backplane power rails (5 V, logic ground, and field power distribution)
-
Divides power zones within large I/O stations
-
Ensures downstream modules receive regulated backplane power
-
Requires shared external supply reference with CPU/NIU power source
Power is distributed from the installed booster supply to all modules positioned to its right until another power segmentation point is reached.
Mechanical Design
-
DIN rail mounting system (35 mm standard EN 50022)
-
Optional panel installation for vibration-prone environments
-
Compact modular form factor for dense cabinet layouts
-
Integrated alignment and locking structure for power supply attachment
-
Indicator window access for installed power supply LEDs
Approximate weight: 0.14 kg (0.31 lb)
Electrical Characteristics

Type: Passive power distribution carrier (no active electronics)
-
Function: Backplane power extension only
-
Supported voltage rails:
-
Isolation rating: up to 1500 VAC (system dependent via PSU interface)

Installation and Wiring
The IC200PWB001 snaps onto a grounded DIN rail and mechanically interlocks with adjacent modules. It provides internal bus continuity for power distribution while maintaining electrical segmentation between power zones.
External wiring requirements:
-
Shared primary supply between CPU/NIU and booster PSU
-
Proper grounding of DIN rail required for EMC compliance
-
Tool-assisted torque tightening recommended for terminal connections (when applicable PSU installed)
Environmental Ratings
-
Operating temperature: -20°C to 60°C
-
Storage temperature: -40°C to 85°C
-
Designed for enclosed control cabinet installation
-
Suitable for industrial environments with controlled ventilation
System Application
-
Expansion of large VersaMax I/O racks
-
Power segmentation in distributed control panels
-
High-density modular PLC installations
-
Retrofit upgrades of existing VersaMax stations
-
Systems requiring multiple power domains within a single rack
FAQ
Q1: Does this module generate or regulate power?
No, it is a passive carrier used only for power distribution and mounting.
Q2: Can multiple booster carriers be used in one system?
Yes, multiple carriers can be installed to segment power zones across a large I/O station.
Q3: Is external wiring required for operation?
Yes, the booster power supply must share a common external supply with the main system PSU.
