ABB S800 ModuleBus and Address Distribution
The TU835V1 distributes the ModuleBus from the connected I/O module to the next MTU in the installation. At the same time, it generates the appropriate I/O module address by shifting outgoing position signals toward the next MTU.
The MTU supports mechanical configuration through two keys. Each key provides six positions, producing 36 possible mechanical configurations. This keying mechanism physically configures the MTU for compatible I/O module types without changing the electrical functionality of either the MTU or I/O module.
The unit supports AI810, AI815, and AI845 modules according to the supplied technical data. Therefore, the mechanical key positions should match the applicable I/O module configuration before installation.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: How many I/O channels does the TU835V1 support?
A: The TU835V1 supports up to 8 I/O channels. Each channel has a maximum rated current of 2 A and a maximum rated voltage of 50 V.
Q: How does the TU835V1 generate the I/O module address?
A: The MTU generates the appropriate address by shifting the outgoing position signals to the next MTU.
Q: Does the mechanical key configuration change the electrical function of the MTU?
A: No. The two mechanical keys provide physical configuration for different I/O module types. The selected key positions do not change the electrical functionality of the MTU or I/O module.
Field Installation Guidelines
Mount the TU835V1 on a compatible standard DIN rail and verify that the mechanical latch fully locks the unit.
Release the DIN rail latch with a screwdriver when removing the MTU.
Confirm that the two mechanical keys match the intended I/O module configuration before installation.
Connect field wiring according to the terminal assignment and supported process connections.
Keep wiring within the specified solid and stranded conductor ranges.
Apply the specified terminal torque of 0.5 - 0.6 Nm during field wiring.
Maintain the specified 7 mm conductor stripping length.
Separate signal wiring from high-current or high-noise conductors where the installation requires electromagnetic interference control.
Route shields and protective earth connections according to the plant grounding design and applicable electrical installation standards.
Verify the 50 V maximum rated voltage and 2 A maximum current per I/O channel before energizing the circuit.
Confirm that the ambient temperature remains within 0 to +55 deg C during operation.
Inspect the terminal connections and mechanical latch before commissioning.
