PROFINET IO Communication and Industrial Network Characteristics

The CI871AK01 provides a PROFINET IO interface for data exchange between ABB control-system infrastructure and compatible PROFINET IO devices. It operates as a communication interface rather than a standalone controller.

The supplied package combines the CI871A communication interface with the TP867 baseplate. Therefore, installation requires the associated mounting and backplane arrangement supported by the target ABB architecture.

For system integration, verify the installed 800xA and Compact Control Builder versions before commissioning. The supplied ABB data specifically identifies compatibility with 800xA 6.0.3.3 and 6.1.1, Compact Control Builder 6.0.0-3 and 6.1.1, and later supported versions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What communication protocol does the CI871AK01 support?
A: The CI871AK01 is a PROFINET IO communication interface for ABB control-system architectures.

Q: What is included with ABB 3BSE092693R1?
A: The package includes one CI871A communication interface and one TP867 baseplate.

Q: Which ABB software versions are identified as compatible?
A: The supplied data specifies ABB 800xA 6.0.3.3 and 6.1.1, Compact Control Builder 6.0.0-3 and 6.1.1, and onwards.

Field Installation Guidelines

Install the CI871A and TP867 assembly according to the applicable ABB hardware installation documentation. Confirm the mounting position and backplane connection before energizing the system.

Route PROFINET network cabling separately from high-voltage power conductors and high-noise switching circuits where practical. Maintain proper cable shielding and grounding according to the installed network architecture.

Before commissioning, verify the module identity, hardware revision, software compatibility, network addressing, and PROFINET device configuration. Do not apply operating parameters that are not supported by the system documentation.
